Fun Things to Do (in Singapore)

Are you bored of doing the same old things over and over again? Are you running out of ideas for dates and need something to spice up your relationship? Do you have a gathering coming up with absolutely no clue what to do? Fret not, for here is a list of ideas that is suitable for both dates and groups of friends! With a wide-ranging list of ideas, there is bound to be something fun for everyone!

1.     Cook Together
Cooking together is fun! You can do it on a date or have a major cookout session with your friends. Not only do you get to cook (and eat!) your favourite food, cooking also necessitates a trip to the supermarket where you can discover interesting products on the shelves! You can also learn more about each other as you reminisce about that childhood snack that you used to beg your parents to buy, share about your newest candy addiction or simply debate over whether Fruit Loops or Coco Crunch is the best cereal…

2.     Food Hunting
If cooking proves to be too challenging for you, try food hunting! Instead of going to the usual spots for dinner, take the time to do your research about the “Best Pasta in Town” or perhaps the “Best Tapas in Town”. While Italian food sounds romantic for a date, tapas is a great idea for groups as you get to order a variety of food to share! Few things are more enjoyable than eating and sharing delectable food with people that you love. At the end of the night, you would have created new experiences with each other and go home happily fed.

3.     Work Out Together
In recent years, keeping fit has been all the rage and there is even a saying that goes: “The couple that works out together, stays together.” By working out together, not only can you spend quality time with each other, you can also motivate each other to become fitter! As an added bonus, exercising releases endorphins and will make both of you happier. So get out there and run towards a happier and healthier relationship!

4.     Attend a Language Course Together
Picking up a new language can be tough but learning it together makes it fun. Not only can you go for lessons together, you can also speak to each other in a new language that others cannot understand, making it an exclusive language between the two of you. Pick a sexy language like French or Spanish and you will be sure to breathe fresh life into your relationship! Of course, this can also be done with a group of friends and you will have more people to practise this new language with! In addition, you will also have a new language to add to your résumé!

5.     Take up Pottery
If attending a language course requires too much commitment, why not try something like pottery making? With courses as short as 2 hours, pottery classes are ideal for those with busy schedules! In addition, pottery making is also extremely therapeutic, making it even more suitable for stressed out urban dwellers! The best part? You get to create your own masterpieces and take them home! Or better yet, you can exchange your handmade potteries with your date!

6.     Go on a Trishaw Ride
Not quite the daredevil and yet seeking some form of adrenaline rush? Go on a trishaw ride along Clarke Quay/Chinatown! Before you assume that a trishaw ride is slow and boring, think again! The trishaw uncles are brave and strong, peddling furiously alongside high-speed cars. Soon enough, you will find yourselves gripping tight onto the seats of your trishaw as you whizz past streets after streets. Experience the cool breeze kissing your skins and the fast cars brushing past you and sure enough, you will feel more alive than ever after the trishaw ride!

7.     Visit the Zoo/River Safari/Night Safari/Jurong Bird Park
If you are an animal lover, why not head down to the zoo or any of its equivalents and befriend some animals? Singapore Zoo provides many opportunities for visitors to interact directly with the animals, allowing them to get up close and personal with the animals. Not only can visitors witness the multitudes of feeding sessions, they can participate in them as well! For an even more unique experience, partake in the Singapore Zoo’s award-winning breakfast programme with orangutans and other animals and you will be sure to bring back unforgettable memories.

8.     Go to Museums
Contrary to popular beliefs, museums are not just for the cultured. Take a trip down to any museum and explore the exhibitions together. Make your own interpretations and have fun doing so! Let your imaginations run wild!  Afterall, who is to judge you? Also, most musuems have free entries on certain days which you can definitely take advantage of if you are on a budget!

9.     Photoshoot!!!
With cheap studios for rent nowadays, photoshoots are all the rage. Celebrating an anniversary? Why not head down to a studio for a photoshoot? This is not exclusive to couples! Friends can also celebrate anniversaries. Or better yet, who says you need a reason for taking photos? Just have fun and create awesome memories!!!
